
Prior to founding the Recreation Law Center, Leah practiced general civil litigation at the firm Lubing & Corrigan, LLC, for seven years. With her partner Jim Lubing, she supervised up to six attorneys and staff, and represented clients in active litigation, including recreation companies such as Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Grand Targhee Resort, Snow King Resort, and Yellowstone Wilderness Outfitters. Leah has tried multiple cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, and has represented clients in front of the Wyoming Supreme Court and the Montana Supreme Court. She was also primarily responsible for supervising the firm’s transactional and business practice. Leah served in the prestigious role of a law clerk for the Montana Supreme Court, and during law school, for the United States District Court for the District of Montana. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law, and her undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Policy from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
Leah is a frequent lecturer on risk management and recreation law issues, speaking at conferences such as the Wilderness Risk Management Conference, the Association of Outdoor of Outdoor Recreation and Education, America Outdoors Association, the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association, the Dude Ranch Association, the National Ski Areas Association, the Idaho River Rendezvous, and the American Mountain Guides Association. She spent approximately ten years as a multi-day wilderness river guide, and maintains a deep personal connection to the outdoors as a boatman, skier, mountain biker and novice surfer. Leah is the mother of two young boys, and spends as much time as possible adventuring with her family.
